You and I face chemical, emotional, and physical stresses on a daily basis. The quality of our life depends on how well we adapt to these stresses. Whether we adapt or not, will leave a pattern within our nervous system. Your central nervous system (CNS), which is protected by your skull and vertebral column, is where these patterns are stored as it is continuously exposed to the environment. Furthermore, when your musculo-skeletal system sends sensory impulses to the CNS it may respond by storing excessive or reduced patterns within.  For example, someone who is an office employee and is required to sit at a desk may excessively sit with an anterior head carriage for 8 hours at a time. These repetitive patterns will manifest as physiological changes. As the saying goes “use it or lose it” holds true. The muscles and ligaments of the body will adapt to these chemical, emotional, and physical stresses by getting tighter, larger, sensitive, etc. This in turn will cause an imbalance of the human frame and begin to cause malfunction.

Imbalances stored within the nervous system manifest as misalignments within the vertebral column. Spinal nerves exit the vertebral column control every cell, tissue, organ, and system in the human body. The vertebral column is composed of 24 freely moveable segments (vertebra). When these segments misalign they add pressure to these exiting nerves and cause an interference with the nerve impulses sent from the CNS (brain and spinal cord) to the body. This nerve interference caused by spinal misalignment is termed a subluxation. As Chiropractic Physicians we are trained to locate and skillfully correct subluxation. The adjustment is more than a mere “snap, crackle, pop”. We are helping to retrain your nervous system to take on and adapt to a healthier pattern thus allowing it to restore balance within. By removing subluxation we allow our bodies to heal itself and restore proper function to every cell, tissue, organ, and system in our body.
